Random thoughts pt. 1

It is very tempting to proudly announce that I will not watch the World Cup this month, and instead kick an old football with my kid and some other kids in our backyard. But that would be needlessly self-important and, ultimately, I know I will break any self-imposed rule if The Netherlands, Norway or CuraƧao turn out to play well. So that's how the likes of Infantino get us every time, I suppose. Pushing morals in the wrong direction, handing out peace prizes to the highest bidder, even if that happens to be a convicted warmonger practising racist policies. More or less the same was happening at the Eurovision song contest, but now it's happening on an even grander scale. It reminds me of a scene I saw on the central square of the Greek island of Syros. A group of protesters jeered at Israeli cruise ship tourists, who, provocatively, approached the protesters and started filming them and laughing in their faces. It's very disconcerting to see who is getting the last laugh these days. So without wanting to be self-righteous about it, I'll be giving the backyard a serious shot.
