The following article, aptly entitled “A Day of extraordinary madness”, has been lifted from the brochure “Milano Giorno & Notte” – a brochure proposing various touristic diversions for Milan’s visitors. The brochure is principally in Italian, but features translations into English of the main articles. So place yourself in the position of the unsuspecting traveller who just entered his hotel room off Milan’s Central Station, casting an eye on the following…. NB: I typed the article in exactly the same way it appeared in the brochure.
Milan, the 20th February 2000, Central railway Station of milan, a normal identifing control become a terrible nightmeare for two polfer agents and Aurelio Concardi, a dangerous killer, now police informer.
The central station area it’s not the safest place in Milan because of this the police surveillance it’s very tight.
That day, during the patrol of the 18.30, Amerino Veri and Daniele Bortone noticed a new face they never seen before, a tall man with a suspected appearance: Aurelio Concardi.
The criminal go around always equipped with a gun to protect himself from any possible ambush organized by his old-attendants of the Kalashnikov gang: he knew to be in possession of an not autorised armor and was risking to return in jail for other 15 years. Madness and fear took possession of his mind and drowing out the gun shooted both agents.
The thundering of shoots terrified the crowd allowing Concardi’s desperate escaping along Fabio Filzi road, already hunted from other policemen.
The fugitive, arrived in front of the Hotel Prince of Savoia, thought to confine into the underground garage taking some hostages.
In a few minutes the area was surrounded and a young commissary in chief, Luigi Rinella, decided to start negotiating to stop this redalert situation.
Also thanks to the help of the added procurator, Ferdinando Pomarici, it was possible to assure a safe place in the jail of Busto Arsizio.
So at 19.05, after 30 minutes of fear, the gun felt from Concardi’s sweaty hands, who was immeditly arrested.
Thanks to the ability and the professionality of Milan’s policemen this terrible page of black chronicle ended in a good way, with two cops wounded and a huge fear.
